A little background

About me

My studies have taken me from electrical engineering and computer science towards nanophysics. Along the way, I’ve worked on software, built and tested a reactor, and helped run a student community.

I’m Yasin, a master’s student at KU Leuven. I’m doing my master’s thesis at imec, studying the in-plane ferroelectric response of barium titanate thin films on silicon.

My bachelor’s combined computer science and electrical engineering. The projects I’ve worked on since then span quite different scales: the physical design of an ultrasonic microreactor, the workings of a database, and simulations of ultrasound travelling through the forearm.

I like understanding how things work, then putting that understanding to use in a design, an experiment, or a piece of software.

From engineering to nanophysics.

  1. Master of Nanoscience, Nanotechnology and Nanoengineering

    KU Leuven · Current

Option: Nanophysics and Nanoelectronics Engineering. Current thesis research at imec on in-plane ferroelectric characterization of epitaxial BaTiO₃ thin films on silicon.

  2. Bachelor of Engineering Sciences

    KU Leuven

    Computer science and electrical engineering.

Alongside my studies.

  1. President · TSL

    September 2025–present · Leuven

Organising events and helping develop academic, arts, and community activities. During my first term, our team organised 12 major events and launched an ongoing monthly book club.

  2. Business relations · Hydro Team

    October 2024–July 2025 · Leuven

Supported partnerships for the team’s hydrogen-powered race car project, helping communicate its engineering work to industry contacts.
